It may be break, but it's always time to hustle!

Hello everyone!

We’re less than 2 weeks away from the start of the Spring semester, so it’s time to get real with ourselves. Did we use this break from the usual hustle and bustle of our classes to the best of our advantage? Did we stay on top of applications for summer internships? Did we stay current on local news and how new policies may impact us and our career fields? If not, there’s still time to make the most out of this break!

You could always take some time to peruse through our previous blog posts; we have some great advice on topics among many other great articles about our events from the Fall semester! Topics such as:
If you haven’t taken the Career Leader Assessment, what are you waiting for? Send us an e-mail and we’ll send you a code to take it! This assessment is really helpful in defining your strengths and weaknesses in terms of a business setting, and can help you to determine if you’re studying a field that will allow you to enter into a career that will provide you with the lifestyle you’re hoping to live!

If you haven’t thought about having a summer internship yet, now’s the time! For those who are already looking, but having a few problems, stop by Graduate Business Career Services and schedule an appointment to meet with one of our Career Coaches, or log onto Handshake and register for career coaching, resume critiques, and more. We’ve got awesome help to offer, so make sure to take advantage of it! Now’s a great time to put in your final applications for summer internships as the window of opportunity for many of them is likely to be closing before the end of March!

Finally, if you’re in the mood to read a great book on success in the workplace, check out Works Well With Others, by Ross McCammon. It’s a humorous book that chronicles the author’s adult life with tidbits of information he’s gleamed to be important and helpful throughout his career. It feels like a book you’d read for entertainment rather than career development, try it...it’s really great!

With any luck, some of these ideas will interest you, and as always, stay active in advancing your goals these final weeks before the semester starts! Good luck and GBCS looks forward to seeing you back on campus soon!

Best,

Rebecca Webber
