5 Ways to Stay Productive Over Winter Break
Written by: Gabriella LoBue, MS Business Analytics, Dec 2019
Congratulations to all students for finishing another semester! While we all have a much-deserved winter break coming soon, read these quick tips on how to stay productive:
Be realistic about getting things done around the holidays
With the whirlwind of holidays and New Year’s soon approaching, make sure you don’t overwhelm yourself with unnecessary work. Take this time to visit friends and family without the guilt of not being productive, and understand that it’s okay to take a step back to refresh and renew.
Set aside time each week (or every day) to get something done.
Once the festivities have calmed down, delegate specific days and times to get tasks done. Whether it’s a job or internship application, or if you want to learn another software or program in your spare time, it will be easier to stay on track with a set agenda
Make a list of New Year’s resolutions
Reflect on this past year’s events and create a list of resolutions to make next year even better. Be sure to identify goals not only related to school or work but for your personal well-being as well.
Clean out the clutter
Studies show that high amounts of clutter can negatively affect an individual’s stress levels and productivity. Take this break to purge any unnecessary documents, clothing, or electronic devices. Be honest with yourself about what can be thrown away or donated. You’ll feel lighter with each trash bag!
Take advantage of GBCS!
Our office will close on December 24th, and will reopen on January 2nd, so be sure to visit us for career assistance if needed! Career coaching appointments are also available via phone or Zoom if you will not be staying local.
Have a wonderful and restful break, and we’ll see you next semester!
